Citation :

The combat is really f**king cool, there's different lobbies, each named after a MGS character ; Snake, Otacon, Liquid etc (yeah, 95% of the people are in Snake lobby).

- It's rather annoying to change to first person mode (L1+triangle) especially when you're fighting people. The box has made a return! It's pretty funny that I managed to kill quite from a cardboard box that totally didn't fit in with the environment.

- There are only two maps in the beta. One looks like the arctic and the other is something like the middle east that we see in the trailers and gameplay footage.

- Voice chat is supported aswell as typing. To bring up chat window is left or right on the d-pad.

- To change to the position on your back once laying down is triangle, tapping triangle and holding the joystick in whatever direction will allow you to roll in that said direction.

- Grendaes are cool, so are stun knifes.

- No slow down, solid frame rate.

Citation :

The camera control can be customised in the options menu, at first it was a pain. You can invert etc and if you so wish, have it player controlled entirely.

Difficulty wise, it's not hard to get the hang of at all. It took a bit of 'mashing' to find out how to roll onto the back of your character

The visuals are 'nice' but they seem to be a bit unpolished right now. I can't imagine MGO seeing the same presentation as MGS4 (I guess due to the restrictions that come with an online game?) but yeah, still very very nice. The character models are very detailed too.

There are stat rankings I think (I haven't really looked too much into it but looking at a screenshot I took, i see alot of 0000's next to alot of the players names followed by emblems). More interesting is the way you can customise how your character performs. Think of it something like the talent system in WoW I guess, you can alter how fast you run, skill with certain weapons and whatnot.

As for the 'hacking', If you mean the ability to hack out the nano thingos from enemies, No - Haven't figured it out yet. I've only played for an hour or so, been on the phone with Dell bitching about my delayed Laptop >

[edit] TTP - you press L1 to change into the aiming mode. you can change to free aim by pressing square.

Citation :

Okay, just finished a few rounds. Heres the answers and some new exciting things I found.

Coolio - Yes, it stays in the same position you were in previously.

TTP - Yeah, same thing.

Some interesting things happened in a match I hosted. For one, I saw the power of the claymore first hand, people go flying, whilst burning. It's a really nice looking explosion.

This isn't something related to the game mechanics or whatever but some crazy ass player joined my game and actually killed people by sneaking up on them, strangling them until they were blacked out (you have an oxygen metre under the health bar) and then would proceed to head shot them. Crazy.

I had a better look around at the rank system or 'score sheet'.
You've got your normal kills, deaths etc like most other shooter games. You get your headshots counted also which brings me onto the next thing I tried out;

The Sniper Rifle!

10x zoom for your evil intentions!
Once you fire it the recoil is pretty intense, you totally lose your aim if you wanted to take another shot

I'm still amazed at the force blur and stuff from the explosion, I think it's fucking awesome

That guy who strangle > head shot me was something else  Hideo Kojima himself playing confirmed

Citation :

X - crouch > crawl positions (while running: diving roll)
O - reload ammo
Triangle - standing: salute (spreads this aura thing around to local team-mates, it's like a blue mesh so you can see them behind walls etc) crouching: point emote (?)
Square - toggle autoaim

D-pad:

left & right: toggle display of chat window

control sticks: left - move character, right - move camera

R3: toggle over shoulder view in aim mode from left to right.

R1 - fire
R2 - secondary fire while in aim or toggle weapon menu
L1 - aim
L2 - toggle item mini menu

Citation :

- Not as fun as MGO.
- Feels too "Western". Like an ordinary third-person shooter.
- Skills are a waste.
- Like a ripoff of Gears of War.
- Controls need work.
- Graphics are ugly.
- Awkward character movement.

Citation :

Basics

-Customization is very limited in the beta. There are three helmet models, and four voices to choose from. Each voice represents different age groups. A southern, young Japanese male, a male with a Tokyo accent, a middle aged war vet, and one with a very unique accent.

-The default inventory option is the same as the default inventory in MGO1 (3 Cell).

-Controls are changeable. All the buttons can be remapped.

System

-While aiming a gun, R2 makes your character attack with their knife. You can go from a reload, to a knife attack instantly.

-Like in the original MGO, you can cancel with the inventory buttons.

-To steal someones nanos via the SOP system, you approach them while crouched and press Square.

-You can see where your enemies are aiming when they are close by. This allows you to protect your friends better, as you know which one is more likely to get it.

-You can now choke people in-game by grabbing them. You can still stun them the classic MGO way, though.

-Whenever you get booked, you can turn the pages of the magazine.

-The new skill system works like this; you're given a certain number of points to map to various stats and abilities. It's not known if you level up or not, giving you more points to map to more skills.

-Animal rankings are MIA in the beta. You get a rating which goes up and down depending on how well you play.

Maps

-Groznij Grad is one of the maps featured in the beta. Most of the map is used. You can go inside the Shagohod garage and on the catwalks around the area. According to our source, this is a current day version. It's all snowy and frozen. Ryan saw some video footage of this map, and it looks great!

Graphics

-720p, 60 fps

-The game now uses rag doll for all deaths. (Video - Right Click / Save As)

Extras

-Kojima Productions has not been using their real names during the beta. They have their emblem, but they are named after Foxhound members. Our agent has seen Snake and Otacon in games.

-Learning curve is a little awkward. The camera is REALLY loose.
